Expressions Drama Reviewers
Moongirl – a powerful solo show overcoming domestic violence in the family home. Finding yourself in a cosmic fantasy through space that then takes you to edges we face through life.
She had a very expressive face and this was portrayed very well when transitioning through the different characters. Nicole was very engaging and chatty and you felt the energy from her but yet told the story through physical theatre. This highlighted the mental health that was within and her dance spoke words.
The audience interaction was good and when chosen to volunteer to take on characters from her family, she made them feel at ease and gave them words what to say, making the audience member to naturally improvise their role with her.
We liked the use of the glass of milk at the beginning, portraying how far is the edge and how far do we really need to go. The glass of milk being half full and then turning into confetti when she dances. The use of the music, lights and star light backdrop gave a wonderful feel of the moon. Our glass of milk always seems to be half full but it's how one perceives this and what you are going to do with your life - change can happen at any point in your life.
